The design process used in the Architect is like the UX/UI design process. Architects vision solution after studying the problem. UX/UI designers also do the same. The professionals start work by researching the problem and the end user. Therefore, the difference is very minimal in the solution’s mindset.

Coordination with the team

Architects & UX designer are coordination with team

Architects manage the entire project. They bring in engineers, vendors, suppliers and other contractors who help them complete the entire project. Architects need a lot of project management skills, which is the underlying foundation for UX/UI designing roles. UX and UI designers coordinate with product developers, managers and stakeholders throughout the phase for optimal results.

You are designing for people

Architects & UX designers are design for people

Architects and UX/UI designers have a “human-first” mindset. While designing the building, architects consider the user’s perspective. They put themselves in the shoes of the building residents to visualize the solution beneficiary. The principle applies to UX/UI designers too. Indeed, they also think about user interactions with the application before actualizing the solution.

Iterate your way to perfection

Iterate the design for better results

Changes in a building require a lot of time and resources. Since the iteration is laborious, architects try to perfect the solution before implementing them. However, iterations happen. Opposing this method of iteration, UX/UI designers have an easy way to gather feedback and implement them. So, this step is much less time draining compared to architect designing.

For example: In a food delivery app, if the user faces problems, then it is easy for the UX/UI designers to identify the issue and derive a solution for it.

You have most of the skills

Architects have most of the UX designer skills

The architect has all the skills that are required for a successful UX design. From user research to sketching the solution, every little nuance exists inside the architects too. The process and skills are the same.

Conclusion

As an architect, you can consider the UX/UI designing job as a career because it has a high match with your skills, experience and mindset.
