Do this before you start your UI UX Journey

I’m glad that you’ve opted for UX/UI. In this article, I’ll provide you with valuable insights on how to embark on your journey in UX/UI by suggesting things to do and offering a guide. It’s no secret that some designers face significant challenges due to their inadequate understanding of the UX/UI field. Therefore, understanding the fundamentals of UX and UI is paramount to avoiding grappling when navigating through our UX and UI journey.

Read Books and Articles:

Reading books can significantly boost your knowledge in any area, not just in UX/UI. However, in the case of UX/UI, it is crucial to learn about its history, purpose, and methodologies followed by experienced designers. Only books can provide clear and concise answers to these questions. Hence, it is highly recommended to read the books such as “The Design of Everyday Things” by Don Norman. “Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products” by Nir Eyal. “Don’t Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability” by Steve Krug.

By reading articles, you can stay up-to-date on the latest trends, learn about common challenges faced by designers, and gain insights into their daily experiences. Numerous designers share their knowledge and experiences on platforms like Medium, providing a wealth of valuable information. Additionally, following the Aspira blog on their website is another great way to access helpful guides, to-do lists, roadmaps, and other resources related to UX/UI.

Watch YouTube Videos

Many YouTube channels offer valuable insights and tips on UX and UI. By watching these videos, we can learn about the different tools used in the industry, become familiar with UX terminology and laws, and get answers to common questions that arise when considering a career in this field, such as salary expectations and career transitions. While there are numerous channels to choose from, Aspira, Ansh Mehra, and Saptarshi Prakash are recommended options. Although it’s possible to find useful content on other channels, these channels provide clear and concise answers to our questions. While it’s possible to skip the first two steps mentioned and jump straight into your UX journey, I would strongly advise against skipping this next step as it is crucially important. These programs offer practical learning experiences and require relatively low investment, making them an excellent way to gain insight into the field. Having followed the three steps above, you should now have a solid understanding of what UX and UI entail, and you’re. Luckily, there are numerous pathways available for learning about UX/UI, such as online courses, design schools, pursuing a master’s degree in UX/UI, or self-directed learning. Depending on your schedule and availability, you can choose the path that works best for you.
