Introduction – UX UI Designer Salary in 2022
I’m going to discuss more about the UX UI designer salary trend in 2022. Salary packages for UX/UI designers are fickle. Like any other creative field, it keeps changing upon different factors. In the past years, from my experience in Aspira, I have roughly estimated the salary slab for different categories.
This article contains information based on my students’ salary package, who began their careers during the pandemic. Also, this data can vary depending on the company’s location, market, demand, and salary structure. There is no standard pay scale for UX/UI designers.
Factors that affect the UX UI Designer salary
For any industry, salary varies depending on the company’s performance and demand in the market. For example, a software engineer in MNC makes twice the money as that of a regional company. It is because of the brand name and its value in the market.
Likewise, UX/UI designers’ salary is affected by the market scope, industry type, experience, and company’s overall value.
It is common everywhere and this should not be a limiting factor when contemplating taking UX/UI design as a career. The creative industry always has numerous opportunities, irrespective of these variables.
UX UI Designer Salary for Freshers/Entry Level – up to 2 years
A UX/UI designer who is fresher or entry-level with 2 years of experience gets somewhere between 20,000 – 40,000 a month, i.e. 2.4 – 4.8 LPA. Again, it depends on the location, the company and their demand. By demand, I mean how valuable and urgent their need is.
However, I have had students who have received less and more too. Therefore, it is not a fixed salary slab but only a ballpark figure from my students’ salary data.
UX UI Designer Salary for Mid & Senior Level (3-5 years)
When a UX/UI designer gains 3 years of experience, they reach senior-level positions, and so does the salary. The approximate salary in the Indian market is between 6L-12L per annum but can vary based on the company’s reputation in the market.
UX UI Designer Salary for People Coming from Related Job Roles
Apart from UX/UI designers, there are plenty of roles that are closely related to the designing industry, like graphic designers, BA, web developers (front-end & backend), coders & testers of web or mobile applications, and digital marketers. These people can also switch their careers to UX/UI designing without the need to start as fresher.
The experience they have gained in their industries stands relevant to UX/UI design, and they get a minimum 30% hike in the salary package. I don’t have a large database of students who fall in this category. One of my students who has been doing graphic designing for 6 years joined IBM for 12L per annum. That is a 100% hike from his salary. Another student was a graphic designer earning 5 LPA. After finishing the course, they got an offer for 6.5 LPA – a 30% hike.
Conclusion
To summarize:
1. Freshers and entry level pay scale is between 2.4 – 4.8 LPA
2. For seniors and above 3 years of experience, pay scale starts with 6 LPA
3. People with almost relevant experience(design-related industries) get a 30% hike when they switch to UX/UI designing.
All these salary slabs are from my students’ data, and it varies accordingly depending on market conditions. If you have a different salary package from what I have mentioned above, let me know in the comment section. It can help your fellow UX/UI design aspirants too.
