Stock photos are pictures that are ready to use. You can buy these photos and use it in your projects. You don’t have to commission a photographer, which usually costs a lot of money and time.
There are two types of stock images: images that cost a licensing fee and those that are free to use.
6 best free stock photo websites offer a wide range of these images and graphics. Before using any stock photo website, first read and understand their licencing terms.

- There are many categories and themes.

- Pexels is a widely used site made by Canva since 2015
- This site offers hundreds of thousands of handpicked images
- Users contribute their images to the website.
- Pexels sources most images from other websites. So, don’t be surprised if you find the same picture on another site.
- You can select the size of the image before downloading.
- This site offers free download and Creative Commons [CC-0] license.

- Life of Pix offers high resolution images to share and download for free
- This site offers one of the most unique collections of stock photos across the internet.
- This site also offers a no-copyright policy while using their images
4. Pixabay
- Pixabay is one of the biggest collections of high quality free stock images
- This site also offers great HD and 4K videos for your B-Roll on its sister website called Life of Vids.
- Choose from a set of different sizes of the image that you want before downloading
- This site also offers a Creative Commons CC0 license.
5. Reshot.com
- Reshot.com is a growing stock photo website that has its own gallery of images.
- Users can upload and download for free.
- You don’t need to get copyrights to use the images from this site.
6. Shutterstock
- Shutterstock is a well known stock photo website in the design community.
- It has the largest database of stock images and videos on the internet.
- But, these images are not all free, most of them come at a small price.
